‘Pathways’, An Exhibition by Jo Perkins

A woman is painting a picture on a canvas

Joanna Perkins is an abstract landscape artist living and working in rural Scotland. Her work employs vibrant colour and abstraction to encapsulate the essence of the countryside as she experiences it.

Deeply passionate about art education, with a particular focus on simplifying the intricate realm of colour theory and colour mixing techniques, Jo’s aspiration is to cultivate a diverse community of artists from various background.

Latticed with paths and edged by ramshackled flowers, this new collection of eight paintings draws us further into the depths of Scottish landscapes. Created exclusively for Strathberry, ‘Pathways’ explores the roads that lead us forward.

In this exhibit Jo examines the mysteries of the landscape - misty hills whispering promise in the distance, overgrown thickets singing with life, cosiness beneath the trees and a vastness in the open paths that tempts us onwards.

Using colour to express emotion and to describe movement and transition, the collection is layered with marks inviting closer inspection. These colours, built around the Strathberry palette, with nuanced sophistication in their range present the perfect contrast to the more vibrant colours that frequent Jo’s work.

Exhibit runs from Thursday 28 September – Wednesday 11 October.
