The Edinburgh Edition

This July, we're delighted to release a capsule collection consisting of beautifully crafted silk scarves, as part of a creative project with Textile students at Edinburgh College of Art, the University of Edinburgh. We are passionate about supporting young people embracing creative industries in Scotland, and approached the university with the idea of a design competition, celebrating Scottish architecture, cities and landscapes.

We experienced a tremendous response to the opportunity, and had the pleasure of viewing a high level of creativity and talent among the student entrants. After deliberation, two successful candidates where selected, Grace Joyram and Hope Connachan-Holmes. Their resulting work captured the essence of Edinburgh, while perfectly complementing our brand aesthetic.

"Working with Edinburgh College of Art on this very special project has been a wonderful experience. As a Scottish brand, we’re very proud to support our flourishing creative industries and connecting with young talents in our country. This felt like the perfect opportunity to connect with our local community on a new level and take an active role in endorsing education, art and design in our hometown. We’re very passionate about helping young people in Scotland take their first step on the career ladder, especially in light of the difficulties brought by the pandemic in the past year, and we’re excited to showcase their amazing work internationally."

Inspired by both the capital’s picturesque landmarks and its surrounding countryside, the illustrations were beautifully hand-drawn and then digitally developed to bring this exclusive capsule collection to life on Strathberry’s premium quality silks. Playful and defined by a striking and bold colour palette, the four prints are an ode to Scottish creativity and show a unique stylised version of Edinburgh and Scotland, that is both contemporary and fashion-forward.
