The Celestial Collection – Strathberry’s Love Letter to New York City

Opening to the public 110 years ago, Grand Central Terminal is one of the most-visited destinations in New York City and is celebrated as a universal symbol that connects the city’s rich history to the present day.

Inspired by the zodiac ceiling of Grand Central Terminal’s cathedral-like Main Concourse, this celestial collection is Strathberry’s love letter to New York City.

An open book with drawings of horses and flowers

Our designers were captivated by the overwhelming beauty of this iconic ceiling, featuring twelve constellations painted in gold leaf, that transcends the fast-paced hustle and bustle of the concourse below.

A celebration of the city’s rebirth, the painting’s simplistic lines are echoed in the celestial print that adorns our most coveted silhouettes and amplified by the purposeful silence in the space between each hand-drawn figure.

Sketches of Pegasus and Eros, the Greek god of Love and counterpart of the Romans’ Cupid, are set against our most-coveted vanilla leather, anchoring this print throughout the collection.

Whilst placement of the artwork for the Silk Square Scarf took weeks to complete, it was three months before the handbag’s print was finalised. Digitally printed in Italy, by artisanal masters of the most advanced leather printing techniques, the artwork was adjusted on multiple occasions to ensure that even the smallest of details were visible across all silhouettes.

Thoughtfully designed and skilfully crafted in a limited number, this collection perfectly captures the romantic spirit of the City That Never Sleeps, whilst showcasing Strathberry’s passion for functional and timeless designs.
